PFAFFL Pallet Pledge

White wine:

2017 Gruner Veltliner Brot & Butter  £12.50 (Pledge Price £10.95)

A classic, crisp and fruity Gruner with a pinch of pepper – perfectly versatile and delightful on the palate. Definitely a food friendly style that will win the hearts of those yet to enjoy Austrian wines.

Red Wines:

2017 Zweigelt Elegance  £12.50 (Pledge Price £10.95)

Juicy cherry fruit wrapped in velvety tannins – a typical Austrian Zweigelt to provide easy drinking pleasure with or without food.

2016 St. Laurent Reserve ALTEN  £26.50 (Pledge Price £23.50)

The heart-throb of the Pfaffl family. The wine exudes wild berry fruit, splashes of damson, plum and a herbal spice that heralds power and concentration. The decision to pick these grapes relies on the hanging time being at the optimum moment to allow the juice to deliver a complexity of flavours. Delicate oak is allowed to contribute to a balanced and elegant structure. Fans of fine Burgundy will be in tune with this Pffafl gem.

WEINGUT R & A PFAFFL, Austria.

This exciting winery was founded over thirty years ago by Roman and Adelheid Pfaffl, and to-day their siblings, Roman Josef and Heidi Fischer, are actively involved in the day to day management of the vineyards and winery. With 110 hectares of vineyards this definitely remains a family business, one which proudly received in early 2017 the award for European Winery of the Year from the American magazine, ‘Wine Enthusiast’. This was bestowed not just as a result of all the work they have achieved with Gruner Veltliner, but also because of their strength in the depth of choice of both red and white wines.

The vineyards are scattered throughout the southern Weinviertel, spread over the Niederosterreich (Lower Austria), Marchfeld and Wien (Vienna). The vines benefit from different soils and micro-climates which allow the family to successfully produce many different styles of wine.
